The MOBIB card for urban transport

MOBIB is the rechargeable contactless card common to STIB (Brussels), De Lijn (Flanders), TEC (Wallonia) and SNCB (train). One card, all BE public transport.

  • Issue: €5 each, at any STIB / De Lijn / TEC point of sale.
  • Brupass XL: combined STIB + metro + premetro + tram + bus ticket for extended Brussels area.
  • For short-stay visitors: prefer paper 1-day tickets (~ €7.50) or Brussels Card with transport option.

Good to know

  • City cards are sold online (received by email with QR code) or at tourist office. Online purchase = no queue, sometimes -10 %.
  • Train tickets can be bought up to 1 minute before departure on SNCB app or at station — no need to book in advance for domestic journeys.
  • Children < 12 travel free on BE trains accompanied by an adult (max 4 children).
